SnapRead — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 16 Aug 2025
SnapRead (part of the OneClick Tools family) is built with a privacy‑first philosophy: by default, your data stays on your device, and we do not collect personal information or run analytics.
What SnapRead stores (on your device)
- Saved items: page title and URL.
- Optional tags you add to organize items.
- Settings you choose (e.g., theme, auto‑save on open).
All of the above is stored locally using the browser’s storage.
What SnapRead does not do
- No accounts to create; no separate servers.
- No third‑party analytics, trackers, or ads.
- No background scraping of websites you don’t interact with.
- No sale or sharing of personal information.
How and when access happens
When you save a page (e.g., “Save Current” or “Save All Tabs”), SnapRead collects only the tab’s title and URL. During saving, we do not inject scripts into pages and we do not read page text content.
When you explicitly choose to open the Reader, SnapRead injects a content script into the current page to extract and sanitize the main article content for a distraction‑free view. This processing happens on your device only; no page content is transmitted to our servers. The Reader runs only when you ask it to and does not operate in the background.
Permissions we request and why
tabs
List your current window’s tabs and read their titles and URLs when you choose to save them.
storage
Store your saved items and settings locally.
favicon
Retrieve site icons via the Chrome MV3 favicon endpoint for display purposes only.
activeTab
Provide temporary access to the active tab when you interact with the extension (e.g., saving or opening Reader).
scripting
Allow injecting the Reader script into the current page only when you explicitly open the Reader.
Host permissions: <all_urls>
Required so the Reader can run on sites you choose. Not used for background scraping or automatic collection.
Data retention and control
- Your saved items remain until you delete them. You can delete single items or use “Clear All.”
Network activity
SnapRead does not send your saved content to our servers. Network requests only occur when you:
- Open external links you click (e.g., support/donation links).
- Fetch favicons via the Chrome‑provided MV3 endpoint.
Children’s privacy
SnapRead is a general‑audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
